I was born in Rio de Janeiro and moved to London with my family when I was four; I've lived here ever since.
After studying English at the University of Leeds, I worked at the Independent on Sunday for several years.
I have an MA in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths, where I won the Pat Kavanagh Award. I've also been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
Flesh and Bone and Water is my first novel. I'm currently working on my second.
My agent is Emma Paterson at Rogers, Coleridge & White.
